Need dental surgery looking for a low cost dental plan

Sunday, Aug. 22nd 2010 8:41 AM

I have two impacted wisdom teeth that need to be removed.   I am desperate and in a lot of pain.  I do not have much money and been trying to put off having the teeth pulled for as long as I can but I am at the point that I not even eating sold foods.

Is there any dental insurance plans that will make having the wisdom teeth extracted more affordable for me?   Please advise I am in agony.

Need dental surgery looking for a low cost dental plan

Since you have a current need I would suggest that your review a dental discount plans since they start the next business day form signing up.

Dental insurance will right now may not work the best because many either have waiting periods for major services or they do not cover for specialist. So make sure if your are looking at an insurance plan that it will cover for what you need.

Part of the problem is that you waited until things got to a bad point (ie your in pain) You should have gotten dental insurance prior to being in pain then you would have been able to deal better with any waiting periods.

Now you have limited options. One is getting a dental discount plan which will off set your dental cost for an Oral surgeon by at least 20 percent.

Another choice is seeing if you have any dental clinics or dental schools you can go to for lower cost dental services.

My suggestion to you is to get dental insurance regardless. That way in the future you will not have to be in the same position you are in now. And in theory you will then be having your twice a year dental check ups to also help avoid having bigger dental needs.

The thing I found out about dental insurance is the like most insurance you get you have to get in before you really need it.

You do not get auto insurance after you have an accident. Well dental insurance is a lot like that. Many plans have waiting periods so that you are not getting major dental service right when you buy the plan.

This make buy dental insurance when you waited to the point you are have bad dental plan kind of hard. There may be a few dental HMO plan that could help you but you are more then likely looking at an Oct 1 effective date at this time.

I really wish you luck no one like being in pain and a toothache is at the top of the list of bad pains.

I agree with the one post get dental insurance so that you will not be like this a year from now. May look for an HMO since they tend to be more affordable then PPOs.

  4. S S Haines Says:

Have you called around to different oral surgeons to see if they may have any payment plan choices for you?

If you can find a dentist in a dental discount plan to get your 20 percent saving and then on top of get a payment plan from the dental office that may make it more affordable for you.
