Seeing a dentist without dental insurance, California Dental Insurance Health care
Can a person see a dentist for dental services if they do not currently have any dental insurance or dental benefits though their job. I have a friend that is very low income and can not afford dental insurance. I trying to help him find a way to get dental care
He been putting off his dental care and is suffering from an infected or abscess tooth and he is in a great deal of pain. Can he go to ER for dental services? At least in the ER you still get treated whether or not you have insurance and then you worry about the bill after the fact. But this does not seem to be the case with dental care. What can my friend do at this point.

It is not a requirement to have dental insurance to see a dentist. It only mean that he would need to pay for dental service to the dentist at whatever their cost is.
By having dental insurance it help pay for your dental care or reduces the cost you pay for dental care.
For your friend he may be better off if he is low income to find a low cost dental insurance plan like an HMO or by getting a dental discount plan since both will help him save money on his dental care needs.

He could try to go to the ER but normally they will not help with dental care. They may pull a tooth but only if it necessary for them to do so. Other wise they would tell him to go to a dentist.
I would not advise that it just an added cost since they will bill him for going there.
He is in CA and there are many good low cost dental HMO plans that will help him out with the cost of his dental care I suggest that he get dental insurance. Some of the plans are less then $10.00 a month.

Tell him to look into seeing if there are any dental clinics near him that he could go to. They are normally cheaper then going to a general dentist without dental insurance.
