If you have a dental PPO or Indemnity plan you file dental claims to your insurance company each time you see your dentist. Sometimes your dental office will process your dental claim for you and bill you for any remaining balances, however it being done claims are being sent to your insurance company for them to pay the covered amount to your dentist or back to you if you prepaid your dentist in full at the time of services being render.
When having larger dental care needs such as crowns, root canals, extractions etc. you may want to have your dentist submit a treatment plan to your insurance company before starting the dental services so you can know how much you will be responsible for. Most plans to say any services over $300.00 should be submitted for a treatment quote so that there are no surprises as to how much of the cost is covered by the plan and how much the member would be paying for the service.
Texas PPO dental insurance plans and claims process.

Texas PPO dental insurance plans and claims process. I am looking for a dental PPO plan where I am not having to pay up front for my dental services. I have dental benefits from my job but when I use it the dentist makes me pay in full and file my own claims.
This is not really helpful to me because if I do not have the money to pay in full I still can not see the dentist regardless that I get my money back to me latter from the insurance company. Do you have any plans that have a better claims process that what I am currently having to do?
Maryland dental insurance and their claims process
Nov. 25th 2010
Though my employer I receive very good dental insurance benefits. However when I go to the dentist the dental office bills me almost as much as my dental insurance company is paying for the claims sent in to them.
I am starting to feel like the dental office is billing me in full for my dental services and then sending the claim of to my insurance company to be paid. So that they are getting paid twice once from me and then again from my dental insurance. I never get any type of refund back from the dental office either.
I have talk to a few people about this and some people tell me that the dental office I am going to seems to be dishonest. Where other people say this is very typical and that dental work is very expensive. How would I know if the dental office is ripping me off or not. Should I just go to a different dental office?
What is the process of filing out dental claims.
Oct. 22nd 2010
I have a PPO dental plan that I get though work. I made sure I was able to see my own dentist and was told I could. My dentist stated they are not a provider of my plan so I would need to pay in full and get my refund back from the insurance company.
This is a little upsetting to me. I been seeing this dental office off and on for about five years. How can I make them file the claim and I just pay what my plan does not. That is the way I would think the insurance should work. It not like I have the money all the time to be paying cash otherwise why have dental insurance at all?

Dental insurance, Why won’t my dentist file my dental claim.
Jun. 24th 2010
So I have Delta dental PPO though my job. I went to an outside network dentist because I do not care for the dentist they have in the network. They are not in an area I want to go to.
Anyway I had just the normal dental stuff. Cleaning, X-rays etc. My dental insurance plan says they pay 80% of that type of work the first year I have it. So that was what I was expecting to pay the dental office at the time was only 80%.
It did not happen that way though I was handed the total billing and a claim form were they said I needed to file it in order to get the premium due back from the insurance company. I was very upset by this. They informed me that they do not file claims they will only fill out the form and give that to me so that I can file it.
This does not seem right to me at all. What is the point of having insurance if I could afford to pay in full for my dental services. Why will they not file the claim is that not on the dental office to do?? I am left feeling taken.
I have two dental insurance plans, can I pick the dental plan I want to use
Jun. 5th 2010
Both my husband and I get dental insurance though our jobs. We each have each other on our plans, therefore giving us both two dental insurance plans. Which I though would be cool since our dentist is a network provider of both plans.
On my dental insurance plan it said I have to pay 335.00 for a porcine with metal crown but on my husband plan we only have to pay 275.00 for the same crown. Naturally in this case I want to use my husband plan since the crown would cost me less. My dentist is saying I have to use my plan at 335.00 even though he takes both and I am on both.
I told him I want to use the other plan and he is saying since he started with my plan when I had a filling done, he has to stay with my plan for the treatment advise to me. This seems like a lie to me. I am not asking to use both plans for the same treatment I am only wanting to use whatever plan is the best for the services I am need. What is the problem with that he take both plans… I my dentist just trying to charge me the higher rate regardless of what I have?
Dental Insurance claim process.

So about a month ago I had a deep cleaning and a wisdom tooth removed. At the time I did not have any dental insurance so I had to pay for it myself which cost me $1485.00. I am wondering if I buy a Blue Cross dental plan that offer a $1500.00 year max limit, would I be able to submit the claim to them for the $1485.00 to get my money back and then cancel the Blue Cross plan? My dentist is very inexpensive on X-rays and regular cleaning so I do not see the point in keeping the dental plan after I get back my $1485.00.
Dental Insurance, Can I use a dental discount plan in conjuction with a dental PPO
Jun. 3rd 2010
My husband dental insurance that we get though is job is a dental PPO with a $1000.00 max limit. Which in most cases is not a problem until you need root canal and crown. I am currently in need of a root canal and a crown. The root canal specialist is going to charge me over a thousand just to have the root canal.
So I am wondering if I can use a dental discount plan to get the discount saving and reduce my total cost to our insurance company. I know I will still more then like go over my max but I think the additional saving would be worth getting the plan.
Dental Insurance, I think my dental office is submitting claims twice.
Jun. 3rd 2010
I think my dental office is submitting my dental claim to my insurance company twice. Making my company pay for the same services two times and charging me more as well. So here is what going on. I had a dental plan treatment that was going to cost $2200.00. My dental insurance company as a maximum limit of $2000.00. Keeping that in mind I paid my dental office at the time services was render $200.00 thinking that should be the end of the matter.
A month later I get a dental billing from the dentist for another $400.00. Confused I went on line to my dental insurance to see what was filed and it looks like they filed the same claim twice to my dental insurance company. Another thing is that it looks like my plan paid the dentist around $3500.00 which would be $1500.00 over my max limit. I an not understanding what is going on here. I tried calling my insurance company but the hold time is over 30 minutes.
I do not want to pay another $400.00 to my dentist when I think they are charging for the same claim twice. What should I do I hate worrying about it.
Dental Insurance Help, Is it normal to pay high dental cost when you have good dental insurance
Jun. 2nd 2010
I have a really good dental insurance plan though work. However when I go to the dentist they bill me almost as much as my dental insurance company is paying for. I am starting to think they are billing me the full amount and still sending the claim to get paid by the insurance company. I never get any of my money back either.
Some people tell me that the dental office I am going to seems to be dishonest were other people say this is very typical and that dental work is very expensive. How would I know if the dental office is ripping me off or not. Should I just go to a different dental office?
