After hearing estimony for and against fluoridation, including pro-fluoridation remarks by several active and retired dentists from the Upper Pinellas County Dental Association with a 3-2 vote, Dunedin’s city commissioners opted November 29th to continue fluoridating the municipality’s water supply.

Charitable dental organization is planning a mission to Rwanda that will focus on education.

Efforts to fill the gaps that still remains in Rwanda due to the 1994 genocide, dental volunteers are planning a mission trip that will focus on educating children, teachers, nurses and community health workers about oral health care practices, good nutrition and tooth decay prevention.

Sports drinks and sodas may taste good but they can wreak havoc on teeth. The American Dental Association is prompting their members who participated in focus groups to name sports drinks and sodas as culprits of dental decay and disease.

State donates $1 Million in Mission of Mercy care.

The Missouri Dental Association and MDA Foundation’s inaugural Missouri Mission of Mercy charity dental clinic was a success. The event was held September 23rd-24th for low-income adults and children. Nearly 1,900 adults and children, many who had lined up the day before to ensure they received dental care.

North Carolina volunteers for the Mission of Mercy program work around the clock

In Charlotte North Carolina volunteer dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants at the North Carolina Dental Society’s Mission of Mercy program pulled an all-nighter August 19th.
More the 2000 patients waited in line for hours at the Charlotte Convention Center, NCDS and volunteers began delivering care at 6 am. August. 19th and wrapped up at 6 pm. August. 20th, working 36 straight hours. More than $1 million in free dental care was able to be provided.

Georgia Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic serves more than 2,000.

In Woodstock Georgia August 12th though 13th Georgia Mission of Mercy dental clinic was at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. By Friday morning, the 4,000 or so people created a line 2,000 yards long, according to the Georgia Dental Association.

PRASAD Launches a Mobile Clinic Program for Children.

Going on the move is PRASAD Children Dental Health Program. PRASAD which has served more than 62,381 children in New York’s Sullivan and Ulster counties since 1996, has now launched a new mobile clinic in order to treat children at local schools who might otherwise have transportation issues that limit access to dental care.

Country Music Star Faith Hill performs at Music City Dental Conference Fundraiser

ADA House of Delegates Balances 2012 Budget.

The 2011 American Dental Association House of Delegates has approved a 2012 operating budget of $120,139,667 million in expenses and $120,512,074 million in anticipated revenue and called for a $7 increase in membership dues. National dues as of Jan. 1, 2012, will be $512. ADA president stated he wanted ADA members to know that the House debated the budget with fiscal responsibility in mind.

Dr Kaban receives 2011 Norton M. Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. The American Dental Association presented the award. Dr Ross has received other awards in the past including the Harvard School of Dental Medicine Distinguished Alumni Award and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Research Recognition Award. Dr Ross also is an published author of 300 peer-reviewed articles and internationally renowned lecturer.

Dental societies, leaders honored with 2011 Golden Apple Awards

The Arizona Dental Association won a Golden Apple award for Focus on Member Needs. The Michigan Dental Association won top prize for its Noncovered Services Recruitment Campaign. For retention, the Nassau County and Suffolk County Dental Societies (New York) won for Scrubs and Stilettos.

Individual Dental Insurance Plan Alternatives.

Hi I am living in Texas and have a four year old daughter that needs to start seeing a dentist for her regural checkups. The problem that I am having is I can not afford dental insurance for the two of us and without dental insurance I can not afford to take my daughter to see a dentist. Are there any low cost dental alternatives that can still help me with her dental care?

Individual Dental Plans in Florida.

I notice that Delta dental offer a free choice of dental provider plan as well as a lower cost dental HMO plan. They both seem to over them to individual and their family. Which is what I am looking for since I am a individual with two children and we need dental insurance I am just not sure which plan type is the best to get in the long run. Which saves the most money on dental care services since it will be a plan I will be keeping for a few years.

Individual Dental Plans PPO.

When buying a dental PPO plan how do you know what your true cost for dental services really are? I am looking at the many dental PPO plans available in CA since my dentist only takes PPOs. However the ones I see show that pay 50 percent of major dental services up to UCR. Okay but how do I know the dentist is with in the company UCR fees if non of the plans I review shows what the amount is that they pay up too? How do I make sure not to get hit with UCR charges?

Washington Discount Dental Plans.

I was on line looking for individual dental plans in the state of Washington but I am just finding many websites that are only offering dental discount plans for Washington. Are there no dental insurance plans? Where do I need to go to get dental insurance and not a plan? Looking for better cost then just discounted savings.

I wanting and dental insurance plan that provides me with a free choice of dental providers. I was told by my dental office that I would want to get a dental PPO or any plan that lets me use dentist not in the network or providers. I am having a hard time finding this type of dental insurance plan can you please advise.

I live in Texas looking for dental insurance for myself. I am 25 and working part time going while going to school. I came across SafeGuard but I do not know much about dental insurance so I am not sure if this is the best plan. cost of the plan fits within my budget and if this is a good dental plan I will be letting my parents know about it since they too are looking for dental insurance. What should I know when choosing a dental plan so that I know I am buying the best one for me?
