Dental insurance plans such as PPO or indemnity aloud you to pick and choose your own dentist, however finding the right dentist for you and your family is important. Finding a dentist online is the number one method of finding a dentist today. Yet, finding a new dentist can be a daunting task. Here are some tips in hopes that it will make it easier for you to pick a dentist that you can feel comfortable with and go to at least every six months.
1) Online provides you the ability to review patient reviews. Many people leave dentist reviews on Google, Yahoo, Bing as well as in dentist directories, and in business directories. Informed patients use these reviews to make a decision as to whether or not the dentist in question is worth contacting.
2) Know the dental office business hours. Not all dental offices operate on a 9-5 M-F schedule. In fact, it’s the norm to find dentists that don’t operate Monday or Friday or that have varying schedules on a day-to-day basis. This is great for the dentist, but sometimes not so great for patients who have strict schedules to follow. On the brighter side you may be able to find a dental office that also provides weekend and evenings hours.
3) Know just how busy a dental office is. It is not so nice to have to wait months inorder to book a dental appointment for your dental care needs.
4) If you have dental insurance make sure the dentist accepts your dental plan. Also be sure to have a clear understanding on how the dental office files claims.
5) Location can be an issue. It is nice to be able to find a dentist that is close to your home or work since most people do like convenience. However, don’t let convenience get in the way of finding the right dentist for your specific needs, including office hours, emergency hours, policy on missed appointments, and most importantly a willingness and desire to handle your special needs as a patient.
Dental Insurance, Temporary Toothache Fix
May. 18th 2017
I have a toothache pain that is just running right though me. I made a dental appointment but I can not get in for two days. Please I need something to stop this pain until I get in to see my dentist. Tylenol is not helping me at all.
Reply: Here is a few suggestions that may help until you see your dentist.
* You can try numbing the area where the tooth hurts with an oral jell.
* The use of cloves is an age-old home remedy for tooth pain. Soak a cotton ball with a few drops of clove oil and place it on the affected tooth or inside the tooth cavity for instant pain relief.
* Use a Sea Salt Rinse.

Dental Insurance, Why you should buy dental insurance
Jul. 22nd 2010
It is important to understand your dental insurance, and how the dental plan you have or may be thinking about getting works. It sad but many people do not even think about having dental insurance until they have major dental needs.
Then these same people get upset over waiting periods or standard exclusions that are common in most dental insurance plans. As an example: People who are looking for dental bridges get upset when they find out that many dental insurance plans have missing tooth clauses. (Meaning the dental insurance will not cover out for a bridge if the tooth was missing before having the plan in force)
Still other people do not even think about having dental insurance until they have a toothache. They find out they may need a root canal and crown. Both dental services that fall under the major category.
Since many dental insurance plans have waiting period for both basic and major dental services you can be out waiting a year or more before a root canal or crown would even be covered under the plan. You can see were waiting until you need dental work would not be helpful to you with these types of dental plans.
Do not fall into these traps. Get dental insurance even if right now you have the best teeth in the world. Having dental insurance when all you need is a basic cleaning will hopefully help you to avoid ever having to have major dental work in the future.
Since in theory if you have dental insurance you will be using it to see your dentist a least two times a years. Maintain your healthy teeth and gums.
Dental insurance works great and will save you and your family money during these hard times. So do not look only at today’s needs, but what your needs maybe in the future. And remember seeing a dentist at least twice a year will also save you in dental cost by having your dental checks and keeping your teeth healthy and free of decay.
