Question: I need two fillings for small cavities but don’t currently have dental insurance. What would be the best dental insurance plan for me to buy.

Reply: What type of dental insurance would be best would depend on a few factors that may be personal to you.  Such as if you are currently seeing a dentist that you would like to maintain seeing.  If that is the case you may need to buy a dental PPO plan if that dental office dose not accept HMO dental plans.  With a PPO plan however they will typically have waiting periods. General waiting for basic dental services like a filling is six months though that can vary depending on the plan.

HMO dental insurance plans however, will typically not have waiting periods which will benefit you in your current case. Yet with an HMO you will need to choose a plan provider since there is no out side network benefits.

Online Dental Insurance, Insurance for Dental Bridge

Dental insurance coverage’s for bridge work on front teeth

Question:  A few years back I broke two of my top front teeth.  They are almost broke in half so that it looks really bad but they never came out and I did not have any money to have them pulled. So I can get them replaced.  Now I have a full time a job and would like to get some dental insurance so that I can have my front teeth bridge and have a better looking smile.  Will insurance cover me for something like this.

Reply: It was good that you did not pull the teeth at the time not to have finished the replacement because then you teeth may have shifted. Also some dental insurance plans have missing teeth cause that they will not provide benefits for replacement.  However I would suggest reviewing our HMO insurance plans as they do not have waiting periods.  Buying a PPO at this time would make you wait another year before benefits for fixing your teeth kick in.

Online Dental Insurance Orthodontic Treatment for Children

Saturday, Sep. 16th 2017 7:03 AM

Orthodontic Treatment for Children, Advantages Go Far Beyond Cosmetics.

Your child pediatric dentist can identify crowded or crooked teeth and actively intervene to guide the teeth as they come in. Not only will this improve the look of your child’s smile, but early orthodontic treatment may prevent more extensive treatment later on. Braces and other orthodontic appliances can straighten crooked teeth, guide teeth into proper position as they come in, correct bite problems, as well as even prevent the need for tooth extractions. Having straight teeth not only look better, but they are easier to keep clean and therefore less susceptible to dental decay and gum disease.

However, orthodontic treatment takes place over years as your child’s mouth grows and changes. Therefore a commitment to regular dental visits and good home care is a must. Orthodontic treatment is a significant financial investment as well. Yet, since it offers important health benefits, it may be covered at least in part by dental insurance.

Online Dental Insurance, Removing Tooth Stains or Spots With Microabrasion

Thursday, Sep. 14th 2017 5:28 AM

Microabrasion is a good option for children or teens who want to change the color of certain areas or spots on their teeth, rather than lighten the color of the whole tooth. With microabrasion the pediatric dentist removes microscopic bits of discolored tooth enamel with an abrasive and a mild acid. Treatment usually can be completed in one visit. Microabrasion is a conservative treatment, removing little tooth structure.

The success of microabrasion to remove a spot or stain completely depends upon a number of factors, especially the type and extent of discoloration. Surprisingly, brown or dark stains are removed more readily than white ones. Microabrasion works better on surface discoloration than it does on deeper stains caused by injury or certain medications

Friday, Sep. 8th 2017 9:31 AM

Porcelain crowns are used for both cosmetic and restorative results for discolored, chipped or broken teeth. Yet, there are two factors to consider: First, porcelain crowns are more costly than other treatments and second, a crown requires the removal of a significant amount of tooth structure. On the other hand, crowns are stronger than the other cosmetic choices and can last for many years with good dental health habits. Porcelain crowns are reserved for permanent teeth that are fully erupted with the gum tissue at its adult position.

Online Dental Insurance, More Information on Periodontitis

Wednesday, Sep. 6th 2017 6:29 AM

There are a group of gum diseases that affects the periodontium (periodontium is made of the alveolar bone, the gums, the periodontal ligament and the cementum) at different levels. The first stage is gingivitis: Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums on the surface and does not touch the alveolar bone. Gingivitis can be treated by a dentist along with having proper at home dental care habits.

However when inflammation and infection reaches the perodontium in a deeper manner, the disease is called perodontitis. Perodontitis has several stages which depend on how much tissue and alveolar bone is destroyed. The dentist is about to determine at what stage the periodontitis is by measuring the perodontal pockets (The space between a tooth and the gum around it) at six sites around each tooth. By doing this the dentist can ge t an idea of the destruction of the bone and the severity of the periodontitis
