Aging does not mean you have to lose your teeth. Many people still think that tooth loss is a natural part of aging. Proper oral hygiene/dental habits and seeing a dentist as advised can maintain your teeth for a lifetime. However, when a person does not have good oral hygiene/dental habits and does not see a dentist regularly, that person can develop periodontal/gum disease, leading to tooth loss. Periodontal disease is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults 35 and over.
