Online Dental Insurance – Do a Little Finesse Flossing
Keeping your teeth and gums clean is fundamental, and flossing is crucial in achieving that. However, this is if you do it right. Snapping and popping your way through the process does more damage than good, causing friction on tissue and damage at the gum line.
To finesse your flossing technique, use about two inches of floss between your fingers, unroll a fresh section of floss for each tooth, and keep the floss tight against your tooth to break up plaque while leaving your gums in good shape.
To floss with a flossing pick, start by holding the pick with the floss facing your teeth. Next, gently slide the floss between your teeth using a back-and-forth motion. Be careful not to snap the floss, as it can cause damage to the gums. Then, curve the floss around the base of each tooth and gently move it up and down under the gumline to remove any debris or plaque buildup. Finally, use a fresh section of the flossing pick for each tooth and discard the pick once you’re done.
