My dental insurance just cancelled for non payment, and now I have a toothache.

So for the last three years I had dental insurance that I was paying $35.00 a month for. All I ever got done during that time was X-rays and cleaning. So when it came time for me to renew it I felt it was over all a big waste of money.
So a course three months latter my tooth is now hurting me. The dental insurance will not just re-instate my policy with out having me have the stupid waiting periods again. Which by the way I feel is total unfair. The three years I had it I never did anything to get my money worth out of the plan and now they are not cutting me any slack.
What can I do. I know something is wrong if my tooth is hurting me on and off though out the day like it is doing.
