Dental insurance for a three year old

My son i s three years old and has yet to see the dentist. I take really good care of his teeth by brushing and flossing daily but I know I should take him to see the dentist just for the check up.
My problem is I do not have $200 which is the going cost out here for the office visits, X-rays and cleanings. Which I belive is what you normally get when you go to the dentist for your basic dental care. Would getting insurance help me?
